Kappasinian hypnotherapy, IFS, and EMDR — integrated into a clinical approach tailored to you.
About Assaf Morag
I am a certified Kappasinian hypnotherapist and licensed physician (MD, licensed in Israel, not licensed in the US). My work sits at the intersection of evidence-based clinical care and the deeper possibilities that hypnotherapy opens.
My training spans the Kappasinian model of hypnotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR. I work within multidisciplinary teams and bring an integrative, trauma-informed lens to every clinical relationship.
Sessions are collaborative, respectful of your pace, and grounded in the science of how the mind learns, protects, and heals.

What I offer
The Kappasinian model is a clinically grounded approach to hypnosis that works with your unique emotional and physical suggestibility to create lasting change at the subconscious level.
Core modalityIFS helps you understand and heal the different "parts" of yourself — the inner critics, protectors, and wounded places — through a compassionate, non-pathologizing lens.
Parts-based therapyEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapy for trauma. When integrated with hypnotherapy, it can accelerate the processing of difficult memories and experiences.
Trauma-informedWhat I can help with
Most people seek therapy through the problem they're living with, not the modality. Below are the areas I work with most — if you don't see yours listed, please reach out.
Anxiety, depression, emotional lability, mood instability, grief, and difficulty managing overwhelming feelings.
Specific phobias, social fears, fear of flying, medical or dental anxiety, and avoidance patterns rooted in past experiences.
PTSD, complex trauma, acute stress responses, burnout, and the long shadow difficult experiences cast on daily life.
Attention difficulties, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, and the frustration of knowing what to do but struggling to do it.
Low confidence, attachment dysregulation, people-pleasing, inner critic, and difficulties in intimate or professional relationships.
Smoking cessation, weight and eating patterns, procrastination, and unwanted habits that feel hard to shift through willpower alone.
Parts conflicts, loss of direction, major life changes, and the search for a clearer, more grounded sense of self.
Insomnia, difficulty falling or staying asleep, racing thoughts at night, and patterns disrupted by stress or anxiety.
Chronic indecision, fear of making the wrong choice, overthinking, and paralysis when competing inner voices cannot agree.
Chronic pain, psychosomatic complaints, and physical symptoms with a strong mind-body component that have not resolved through conventional treatment alone.

Understanding hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. It is a clinically validated process of guided focus that allows the conscious mind to step back — creating access to the subconscious, where lasting patterns of thought and behavior are held.
A guided process of focused attention that shifts brainwave activity and narrows conscious awareness — creating a receptive, relaxed state distinct from ordinary waking consciousness.
Once in hypnosis, the depth is increased. Kappasinian methods use a combination of techniques tailored to your individual suggestibility profile — physical or emotional.
In this state, the subconscious becomes accessible. Suggestions, imagery, and therapeutic techniques reach deeper and more durably than in ordinary conversation.
You return to full waking awareness feeling rested and clear. Integration work between sessions reinforces changes and builds toward your clinical goals over time.
Internal Family Systems is a transformative model of psychotherapy developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s. It holds that the mind is naturally multiple — that we all contain distinct "parts," each with its own perspective, feelings, and role in our inner lives.
Rather than viewing symptoms as disorders to be eliminated, IFS understands them as protective strategies — parts doing their best to keep us safe, often based on old wounds and outdated beliefs about what we need to survive.
At the core of IFS is the concept of the Self — a compassionate, curious, and grounded center that exists in everyone. The work of IFS is to help parts "unburden" from their painful roles and return to healthy function, guided by the Self.
When combined with hypnotherapy, IFS work can reach greater depth — accessing parts and their memories in states where they feel safer to speak and be heard.
Proactive parts that try to maintain control and keep vulnerable parts from being triggered.
Reactive parts that act out to distract or numb when emotional pain breaks through.
Young, vulnerable parts holding pain, shame, or trauma — protected by the other parts.
The compassionate, wise core present in everyone — the healer within the system.

Client & Colleague Testimonials
Clients
I have been working with Assaf for over a year now, and in that time he has helped me complete more work than in the previous fourteen years of therapy combined. For those of us with CPTSD and attachment wounds, having a skilled, consistent, professional, supportive, and compassionate facilitator makes progress possible. I believe that in Assaf’s case, it makes progress inevitable. For anyone reading this who has been searching for the right practitioner for a long time, and has perhaps even had some negative experiences with therapy, I hope you experience the relief I felt after realizing this was the right fit. It was beyond reassuring knowing that I could finally stop searching, and start healing.

Colleagues
Jessi Maness, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
“Assaf has been a colleague with me for over three years, and I have learned a great deal from working with him. He demonstrates caring and skill in his work, and seems to take all things with an empathetic and serious lens. I have seen Assaf work through certain questions very ethically, by getting even more training and consultation. He is a true healer, and is patient and kind. He has shown an ability to handle a big degree of complexity in his clients, and only seems to work harder and get more interested. I can say that I don’t think anything sways him from the focus of healing. It has definitely been my pleasure to see how he begins to work with his clients and proceed in a client centered way.”
